3D Printed Projects – Round Nose Rocket from BotMaster!

Please visit www.DIY3DTech.com for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode we will be printing a round nose rocket from BotMaster (Bruce) because as one of the creators of the pointy nose version which we see all the time printed in “vase mode”, this one requires infill due to its rounded nose. However where this all started is my 5 year old grandson saw some of the “pointy” nosed versions I had printed and said “grandpa can I have one!”. Ok what kid doesn’t love a rocket!

However, and frankly the point was too dangerous so wrote BotMaster and he was kind enough to send me a round version! What was even better is the fact that it required infill as I printed with glow in the dark PLA so I jumped up the infill to around 50% to make that baby glow at night! So to BotMaster Bruce, many, many thanks from this granddad and grandson!

3D Printed Project – Apple Pencil Clip From Thingiverse Followup!

Please visit www.DIY3DTech.com for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode we will be doing a followup video on the Apple Pencil for the new iPad-Pro. As even though we got the PLA version to “print”, the clip would break off in minutes of use. So we had to beef up the clip, now I am not overly happy with with this. Yet the only only thing which I have gotten to hold up has been PETG. So I am doing more work on it yet! Also will be launching an Open SCAD channel and site so keep an eye out for that!

3D Printed Project – Apple Pencil Clip From Thingiverse!

Please visit www.DIY3DTech.com for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode we will be looking at a clip we developed in Open SCAD and uploaded to Thingiverse / customizer for the Apple Pencil as we upgraded to the iPad-Pro and also bought an Apple Pencil but Tim Cook and Johnny Ives forgot to add a clip to it! So it rolls off the desk, falls out of your pocket and there is no where to stick on the iPad! Tell you, if Steve was still around but he is not, and we do have 3D printers so lets make our own!

Also! Don’t forget to follow me on Thingiverse (click here) too so you are updated whenever we release a “New Thingie”!

3D Printed Project – Extruder Measurement Tool Part One!

Please visit www.DIY3DTech.com for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode we will be starting a two part series discussing both measuring and calculating extrusion rates of filament. While we will be working with the Wanhao i3 for this demonstration, this will also apply to just any 3D Printer.

In the first episode we will take a look at building a measuring tool for assisting us in this task. The links for this, as well as the links for the source file on TinkerCad will be posted on Thingiverse in the link below.

Aiming Gimbal for K40 / Chinese eBay 40 Watt CO2 Laser Cutter & and Engraver

To help with the positioning of the laser cutting head we modified this design from Thingiverse and added a couple ball configuration (one for 9mm Laser another for 3mm unit).  Please keep in mind that the point will vary with the parallax to the top of the object so it mean to only be a general means of aiming, yet very simple and effective.  In the example, we used a very small 3mm self contained laser diode & driver press fit into the sphere and some heat shrink tubing on the back side for extra support.

3D Printed Mirror Alignment Targets for Chinese Made eBay / K40 CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver

Aligning the mirrors Chinese Made eBay / K40 CO2 Laser Cutter and Engraver  can be both a time consuming as well as dangerous activity so that is why whipped up these “laser targets” to  help with this task.  3D Printed along with a PDF (found at the Thingverse link below) target, this make short work of this tedious task.

QU-BD Y Axis Belt Holder with #6 Nut Slots

This is a remix of a design on Thingiverse for the QU-BD OneUp and TwoUp DIY 3D printer to hold the Y Axis belt from slipping. In this design we have added recessed openings to receive #6 nuts and we highly recommend adding this build to your QU-BD OneUp or TwoUp printer to prevent the belt from slipping during fast rapid infills of the Y Axis.
