3D Printed Gimbal Mount Base

Designed and printed a gimbal mount base for a 28BYJ-48 gimbal project which we found on Thingiverse (www.thingiverse.com/thing:794786) and the STL file for the base can be found on TinkerCad (www.tinkercad.com/things/kkIE3qFwVO1-28byj-48-gimbal-base).  We used the XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer and medium fill with thick shell for the print settings.  If you notice the center is built up a bit with 1/4 Inch hole which will be taped with 20TPI thread to mount on a tripod.  While the Thingiverse design shows a laser.  We will also design a mount for a small web camera turning the project into a pan and tilt which can be placed on a tripod.  We see a lot of uses for this design from security systems to pan and tilt photography applications.

Arduino PrefBoard stand 3D Printed

This is a 3D printed Ardrino Perfboard stand printed on an XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer

 

Since in the lab we have started to play with the Arduino for a couple projects (seems 3D printing and microcontrollers), printing a stand for the Arduino and a half perfboard was a good idea. So off to Thingiverse we went and downloaded one and to XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer we sent it for printing.  We used all the standard settings for the print including rafting which seems a must since the 2.1.4 firmware release where the max bed temp seems to have been lowered to only 70 Deg.  Look for more on this coming soon.

3D Printing Inverted Camera Adapter

 

 

Here is a time-lapse of the printing of the inverted camera adapter from a prior post on our shops XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer.  Worth note is that the print was set for 50% fill and thick shells since it will be holding a moderate amount of weight (i.e. small GoPro type camera).

Raspberry Pi Stacker Printed on XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer

One of the things we’ve been working on lately’s playing around with the raspberry pie an like any good raspberry pi enthusiast we’ve been working on building a supercomputer and while it  won’t make the world’s 500 list of supercomputers it’s a fun project with a lot of learning however one of the things we identified we needed early on was a way to stack the Pi’s together to achieve this we went on to Thingiverse and downloaded an STL image of the stackable case from here we use the Da Vinci 3-D printer to print out the version above you’ll see a time lapse video of the printing.

SainSmart 2 Channel 5v 3D Printed Really Board Mount

3D Printed SainSmart 2 Channel 5volt Relay board mount printed on a XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer

Here is our newest design, a mounting bracket for a SainSmart 2 channel 5volt relay board mount which can be used with either the Arduino or Raspberry Pi (along with many others).  These are very economical relay units and we picked up a half a dozen to play with and then we discovered, we needed a way to mount them and the

" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">XYZprinting Da Vinci 2.0 Duo 3D Printer came to the rescue as we drew this up in TinkerCad design and printed it out. Notice there are four 0.5 inch stand offs to mount the board and four tabs with 0.125 inch holes for mounting.  One of the big uses for this is a garage door actuator, as we have two doors so interfacing with a Raspberry Pi to build a web based door opener seemed like a good project.  As the idea with the tabs is to use drywall anchors and mount the relays and Pi close to the existing switch using a short run of wire to connect the two together.  The power for this will come from the near by garage light switch as a small power supply will tucked away in the wall (use care and engage a professional if your not experienced with dealing, with house level currents).
