Shop Talk – Yes Cork Really Burns and More On Safely Insulating Heated Beds!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, we will be following up a prior video where we insulted the heated bed of the Creality CR-10 and created a bit of controversy over the use of “cork” as an insulator as well as does it matter what side of the Thermotec insinuative material we use? We will answer all of these questions and maybe more.

Creality CR10 – Printing a RoboSpider Amazon Echo Dot Stand!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, I was inspired to create this from the Sci-Fi movie Pacific Rim (amzn.to/2ue6p0M0) as to “Combat Monsters you have to build Monsters of your own”. The model is rather straight forward and easy to print as well as providing a stark conversational look where it is sure to be a conversation piece in any office or home! In addition it also offers many finishing option should you (or significant other) not like the 3D printed look (which my wife doesn’t) as you can use a stone spray paint such this (amzn.to/2ue7gyw) which my wife even approves of or a lighter textured version such as this (amzn.to/2uewehx) to cover the layer lines. However, any way you decide to go, this functional piece of art is sure to give you a smile (or scare) every day!

Also note you can use the holes in the legs to run the wire neatly though (hidden feature of the design) providing for a clean seamless steam punk or reto-modern decor look!

Note: this things assembles via pressure fit and while you can glue it, it is not required however to achieve this the interlocking slots are very tight and depending on the plastic you use may require some clean up with a bur tool (such as this: amzn.to/2uek6gg) as well as a small file set (such as this: amzn.to/2uexS2u) to achieve the required fit of the parts.

Creality CR10 – Camera Mount for Time Lapses from Above!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! Since I wanted to get top profile view time-lapse from my Creality CR-10 printer, I designed this camera mount which will slip over a 20×20 rail and allow the mounting of 1/4-20 standard tripod ball head like this one amzn.to/2sRYcwj to allow me finer adjustment I designed this simple top mounted camera adapter. Also here is the nylon thumb screw ( amzn.to/2uaY3Ip ) I use for the pass though so I can swap ball mounts and camera quickly.

Creality CR10 – Insulating the Heated Bed!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, we will be insulating the bed of the Creality CR-10 with the hermo-Tec 13575 Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier (amzn.to/2tpZZd9). This stuff come in 12″ x 24″ self adhesive sheet for about 17 bucks. Now a bit of spoiler here, I would suggest doubling up the sheet for best performance, in other words. Cut in half (i.e. two 12″ x 12″ squares) then apply one as in the video and then a second over top of that one for improved performance.

3D Printed Project – CHEP Inspired Redesign!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, we will be taking our inspiration from Chuck Helebuyck over at CHEP as it seemed Orange is the New Black was a rerun so the next best thing which wasn’t a rerun happen to be Chucks new video (at the time) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvZjTy3EdQ4&t=286s where showed us how to create this neat comb-thing (I am sure the girls in prison would have turned this into a shank or something on the show) to hang on the wall. But after watching, I said “self” we have been wanting to print one of these for a while however we don’t have a wall but we do have desks and shelf’s so how do we solve this this problem? Well “self” said back, you know Tinkercad, yea I know you Fusion 360 cats out here are rolling your eyes but hey if it an’t broke, don’t fix it right? Yea you know what I am talking about as Tinkercad is that secret little pleasure sort of like sneaking to the refrigerator late at night to steal that last piece of chocolate cake and glass of milk only to have confront your [angry] wife in the the morning with a Cheshire cat grin and a drawn out “whaaaaat” as she gives you the bad eye.

Creality CR10 – Measuring PEI Heat Transfer With Flir Camera!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, we will be measuring the heat transfer from the [heated] bed of the Creality CR-10 through the PEI printing surface as just how much heat does it transfer? Also near the end again will show removing the tape and only reading from the (through PEI) the bare metal bed.

Creality CR10 – 3D Printed Dial Indicator Mount for Bed Leveling!

Please visit ift.tt/1PJb2UK for more information on this and many other projects! As in this episode, we will be looking at dial indicator mount which we designed for the Creality CR-10 mega 3D Printer (if you want one click here: goo.gl/FthFpE) which uses economical dial indicators to assist you in leveling / tramming the large bed of this beast!

This is a Dial Indicator Mount for the Creality CR-10 (click here: goo.gl/FthFpE) uses economical dial indicators such as this one amzn.to/2ttaAGr for less than $15 bucks or a digital version such as this amzn.to/2ttaIWr for only $25 bucks.

Also you can use a metal 1/4-20 (~6mm) sized nut and bolt combo however I like using nylon nuts/bolts such as this amzn.to/2saaeRh just to lighten things. I have designed two Gcode files to be used running the dial across the Creality CR-10 bed and they can be found here: ift.tt/2sawKtj

If you are looking for my other video using a dial indicator to level or tramm the bed here is the link: youtu.be/JccLBnHWG0k
